Aoi Tsunemori (常守葵 Tsunemori Aoi) is the paternal grandmother of Akane Tsunemori.

Appearance

Tsunemori is an elderly woman of a petite and frail build with the same large brown eyes as her granddaughter and graying brown hair. She is typically seen in a pink jacket and white yukata. She sometimes wears stud earrings.^[1]

Like her granddaughter, she is calm woman in all situations,^[2] but is shown to have a playful and sweet character.^[1]

Akane Tsunemori

Akane is Aoi's granddaughter. They are very close and Aoi is the only one who calls her "A-chan".^[1]^[3] Sakuya Togane attempts to turn Tsunemori's hue black by brutalizing and murdering the elderly woman.^[2]^[3]

Etymology

The name Aoi means "hollyhock, althea" (葵).
- It can also mean "blue, green" (碧) (ao) in an adjectival form.
Aoi's surname Tsunemori means "always protect" (常守).

Trivia

Aoi shares the same English voice actress as Akane Tsunemori.
Her ID is 00475-AEVC-00994-1.^[2]
There is a discrepancy in her birthdate: the Profiling Book says it's 2054/1/15 (file here), whereas the ID card displayed by Yayoi Kunizuka^[2] shows 2054/2/27 (file here).
