Misako Togane (東金 美沙子 Tougane Misako) is a member of the Sibyl System, a former researcher and Sakuya Togane's mother.[1] If she were still human, she would be in her 80's. Therefore, her symbolic representation shows her as she was when she integrated with Sibyl, in her 60's.[2]
Appearance
In human form, Togane is a female of average height and a slender build. She has dark brown eyes and mid-length dark brown wavy hair that covers half of her face. She has a pale complexion and wears earrings. She is typically seen wearing a white lab coat under which is seen a pink cardigan, darker pink blouse and red skirt.[1]
Personality
Not much is known about Togane's personality though it appears she is somewhat vain about her appearance,[1][3] obsessive about her work and insensitive to the feelings of others.
Personal Background
Togane is the former head of the Togane Foundation and a neuroscience researcher, especially of idiosyncratic brains known to be criminally asymptomatic, otherwise known as AA ‒ a priori acquit.[4]
Officially, Togane is recorded to have died in 2099,[1] the date when she was integrated with the Sibyl System.[3]
Relationships
Sakuya Togane
As Sakuya's mother, Misako takes great care of him when he is a child, praising him often for his behavior.[5] When Sakuya hears of her plans to be integrated into the Sibyl System, he injures Misako with a pair of scissors she often used to cut his hair. Despite this, Misako has her brain excised and body discarded, much to Sakuya's horror. As Joshu Kasei, Misako's feelings toward Sakuya change, evidenced by her reaction when he says it's his life purpose to darken others so she can shine brightly.[3]
Etymology
- The name Misako means "beautiful" (美) (mi), "sand" (沙) (sa) and "child" (子) (ko).
- Misako's surname Togane means "east" (東) (to) and "gold/metal, money/cash, currency" (金) (kane/gane).
