Harumi Hosorogi (細呂木 晴海 Hosorogi Harumi) is a former Chief of the Public Safety Bureau.[1][2] She is one of the "personalities" used by the Sibyl System to move about in the real world.
Appearance[]
Hosorogi is an android of taller than average height and slender build who appears to be in her 60's. She has brown eyes and wavy gray hair swept to the right; she wears red corrective lenses and chandelier earrings.[1]
Personality[]
She projects a serious demeanor that maintains its composure and is always professional.
Personal Background[]
It is unknown if Hosorogi was modelled after a real person. If so, it is unknown whether this person was named Harumi Hosorogi, was living at that time and was absorbed into the Sibyl System. After Joshu Kasei's apparent public death, Hosorogi succeeded her as head of the PSB.[3][1] When Hosorogi also seems to die, in the eyes of the public, Shizuka Homura is appointed to fill her position.[2]

The Sibyl System[]
Harumi Hosorogi is an android body being used by the the Sibyl System to operate in real time under the guise of a fully functioning human being.[2] Or in other words, a shell operated by one brain at a time, like her predecessor Kasei was.
Mika Shimotsuki[]
Hosorogi has a typical boss and subordinate relationship with Shimotsuki whom she trusts, to an extent, because Shimotsuki doesn't undermine her authority.[1][4][5] As Shimotsuki is now Chief of Inspectors, it enables Hosorogi to not have to meet in person her subordinates on the field.[1] Being aware of Sibyl's and Kasei's true nature,[6] Shimotsuki knows as well that Hosorogi is merely an interface for Sibyl.
Etymology[]
- The name Harumi can mean "light, sun, male" (陽), "spring" (春), "clear weather" (晴) or "sea, ocean" (海) (haru) and "beautiful" (美 mi).
- The surname Hosorogi can mean "fine" (細 hoso), "spine" (呂 ro), or "tree, wood" (木 ki/gi).
Trivia[]
- She shares her seiyu with Joshu Kasei.
- She is the same height as Joshu Kasei.
- She is able to consume food, but it is unclear if it is part of her cover as human or if it is used to sustain the brain of her user.[5]
- As Bureau Chief, she inherited the office chair that grants direct connection to the Sibyl System. Like Kasei, Hosorogi is equipped with an uplink in her nape to use this special chair (cf file).[7] This may explain why she is the same height as Kasei.
- It is assumed, but not shown, that Hosorogi possesses the following features of the Kasei android line, namely:
- Clearance to alter the judgement of a Dominator. It may be conjectured that this is due to the status of Hosorogi users and not the android conception.
- There exists several replacements in case of damage or destruction of a unit.
- She is a civilian android, not a combat one, possessing average resistance and strength.
