Kyoko Saionji (裁園寺 莢子 Saionji Kyouko) is a Bifrost Congressman in the holo game of Roundrobin.[1] She is well-acquainted with the rules of the game and how it operates, as well as its effects in the real world.
Appearance[]
Saionji is a female of average height and slender build. She has green eyes and long black hair that is wrapped in a bun. She is typically seen wearing a white evening gown with a frilly red collar and a large red flower tucked behind her left ear.[1]
Personality[]
She has a calm, cool and collected personality which actually hides a sadistic nature, as shown when she looks at a tortured Kei Mikhail Ignatov.[2] She is cruel and willing to use others, including her own family, to win and achieve her goals. She is loyally devoted to Bifrost and considers it to be an equal of the Sibyl System.[2]
Personal Background[]
Saionji is born into the elite Saionji family. In her youth, she took successful men as lovers, clouding their hues one after another. At some point in time, she takes over the position of Congressman from her brother.[3] She is also a benefactor of Heaven's Leap.
Relationships[]
Toya Saionji[]
Toya is Saionji's biological brother with whom she had an incestuous relationship, resulting in the birth of Torri S. Aschenbach. Kyoko thinks that Aschenbach's character resembles his father's.[4]
Torri S. Aschenbach[]
Aschenbach is Saionji's son who is fathered through an incestuous relationship with Toya Saionji. Saionji dotes on her only son but sometimes treats him more like a lover. Despite claiming that she can only trust in the bond between parent and child,[2] Saionji is not afraid to dispose of her own son to preserve her status. However, she does seem to experience some shock upon learning the news of his death.[4]
Shizuka Homura[]
She appears to dislike Shizuka Homura and is very cautious around him. It is later revealed that she blames him for her brother Toya's defeat and desires revenge against him.
Haruki Shirogane[]
She is somewhat trusting of Shirogane and has known him for a long time. She gets along well with him.
Etymology[]
- The name Kyoko can mean "pod, shell, hull" (莢 kyo) and "child" (子 ko).
- Kyoko's surname Saionji can mean "judge/judgement" (裁 sai), "garden, park, plantation" (園 on) and "temple" (寺 ji).
