MFA Operations Department

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs oversees the work of the Foreign Affairs Operations Department, a service branch of the Japanese government whose focus is on stopping terrorism, corruption, organized crime, cyber crime and civil rights violations, as well as investigating serious crimes such as major thefts or murders and matters relating to law enforcement in the dystopian future of Psycho-Pass. Its structure and roles are similar to that of the Ministry of Welfare's Public Safety Bureau, but its jurisdiction covers matters outside of Japan's borders as well as crime that crosses Japan's borders (e.g. smuggling). The grunt work is handled by members of the Suppressing Action Department while higher level officers handle administrative tasks.
