Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness (PSYCHO-PASS サイコパス 選択なき幸福 Sentaku Naki Kōfuku) is an official AVG game first released on the Xbox One then on PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC. It is developed by 5pb and published by 5pb in Japan and NIS America for the worldwide release.. The game was released in Japan on May 28, 2015 for Xbox One. The PS4 version was released on March 24, 2016 in Japan and on September 13 in America and September 16 in Europe. The Microsoft Windows version was released worldwide on April 24, 2017.
The game takes place during the time period depicted in the first six episodes of Psycho-Pass. Nitroplus creates an original story with Gen Urobuchi providing the plan and scenario supervision. The setting of the game changes from the heart of a large city (as in the anime) to a remote island.
Three new characters are presented: Inspector Nadeshiko Kugatachi and Enforcer Takuma Tsurugi who face off against a new enemy, Alpha. Characters from the Division 1 police team of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division return.
In the near future technology is developed that allows one's state of mind and personality traits to be quickly quantified and profiled.
All emotion, desire, and social disease are documented and managed by the government for the public good. The quality of each person’s life is measured by a single number. That number, which represents how close the mind and soul are to perfection, is known as the Psycho-Pass. The System also calculates a number that represents criminal capacity, known as the Crime Coefficient. This number is the basis of the justice dispensed by the police force. Officers are divided into two groups: Enforcers, who are tasked with the investigation of crimes and the capture of criminals, and Inspectors, who are charged with managing the Enforcers. Enforcers with high Crime Coefficients have proven more effective at understanding the criminal mind. This ability is used by the police department to solve complex and difficult cases. Because they have such high Crime Coefficients, however, they must be monitored all time by the Inspectors, to ensure that none of them actually become criminals. Though each member of the Public Safety Bureau carries their own burdens, they must see that justice is served - in a society where everything is quantified, they have to make sure it all adds up.
What’s waiting for them out there..?
