Yuji Kanehara (金原 祐治 Kanehara Yuuji) is a former employee of a drone manufacturing company. Experiencing daily abuse from his co-workers, Kanehara plots to take revenge using the company's own product to brutally murder them.[2]
Appearance
Kanehara is a male of average height and a stocky build. He has dark-irised eyes and black hair styled into a spiky-edged bowl cut.[2]
Personality
He is an introvert with a fragile ego and low self-esteem. While mild-mannered outwardly, he deeply resents the bullying he endures from his peers.[2] When provoked by Shinya Kogami, he becomes enraged and activates a drone using a floppy disk given to him by Shogo Makishima,[3] using it to activate a piece of robotic equipment in order to murder the investigative team.

- Production discrepancy: while in the anime Kanehara is said to be born in 2090, 2089 is what is written in the Official Profiling Book.
- In the novel version, Kanehara is a drug dealer.
- The name of the floppy disk he uses to override the drone's functions is, "Johnny Mnemonic", a reference to a William Gibson story of the same name. Gibson is widely credited with pioneering the cyberpunk genre to which Psycho-Pass belongs. A film adaptation was made of this story in 1995 starring Keanu Reeves.
