Yuki Funahara was a close friend of Akane's. They went to the same school together.
Appearance
Yuki had long brown hair and brown eyes. She was also very fashionable and would usually co-ordinate her outfits, even her underwear.
Personality
Yuki was a very cheerful and optimistic person, but was also quite clumsy. She shared a close relationship with Akane.
Plot
Yuki is briefly shown talking to Akane with another friend before the latter rushes to work.
Later, after falling asleep at home, she is kidnapped and placed in a subway train. Akane is then sent an email from her address, asking her to come to where she is located. As planned, it is Shinya who comes and finds her, tied up with a bag over her head and no memory as to how she got there. While wearing Shinya's jacket, Yuki follows him as they go deeper into the area, having no choice but to comply to the enemy's wishes. She then sets off an alarm when she carelessly picks up a bag resembling one they found earlier which contained supplies, and the two are forced to hide from robotic hunting dogs.
The second bag contains a portable transponder which lacks a battery and an antenna. After Shinya manages to destroy one of the hunting dogs and retrieve the battery taped to it, he soon realizes that Yuki was also a piece to winning this so-called game or test. He orders her to take off her dress, much to her confusion and embarrassment. When they both notice that her underwear is strangely coordinated, Yuki agrees to remove her bra and hands it to him. Hidden inside it is the antenna for the transponder. With the transponder complete, he uses it to call for help.
After a long struggle, Shinya manages to defeat Senguji, with the help of Yuki being the bait. However, due to his severe wounds, he is unable to stop Shogo from kidnapping Yuki. Akane chases after them and approaches the two. Although Akane tries to use the Dominator on Shogo, due to his low PP, the gun is useless. Shogo gives Akane a chance to save her friend by throwing a shotgun at her and telling her to use it on him. However, Akane is unable to do so and Shogo pulls Yuki's head back and places his razor against her throat. Yuki begs Akane one last time to save her, however Akane is unable to do anything other than quiver in fear and yell at him to stop.
Shogo just ignores her and slices Yuki's throat, killing her and leaving Akane to stare blankly in shock.
Legacy
After Shogo's battle with Shinya, an enraged Akane manages to slam a helmet into the back of Shogo's head, instantly knocking him out. She is then requested by her defeated Enforcer to proceed with killing Shogo, and although she thinks back about how she lost Yuki, she is unable to bring herself to end another person's life.
Sometime after, Akane is shown the true form of Sibyl, and it is during this time that a memory or imagination of Yuki appears and says that she did not suffer any hardships, since everyone always did everything for you, and asked Akane if she was still happy that way. Akane says tearfully that she could have found true happiness, as anyone could if they were alive. Yuki simply smiles at the answer as she fades away.
Trivia
- Yuki is the only one who has hiragana given name in Season 1. Yuki can refer to different Kanjis, commonly "snow" and "gentle princess".
- Yuki got a relatively bad evaluation of job adaptability, and thus became a manual worker. She's always a little envious of Akane. Although unsually, they are good friends.
